Game 3, Tips lead Round 1

Everett started out very shaky and their defense was crumbling against Seattle’s offense. Seattle’s offensive line came out dominating, giving them a 1-0 lead in just under 2 minutes.

Seattle also had 7 shots on goal in the first 2 minutes, while Everett wasn’t able to get any shots off just yet. The Tips seemed to turn up the dial a little bit after Reece Viteli was able to get a deflection goal from Gianni Fairbrother, to tie it up 1-1. With the Tips turning up their heat, they weren’t allowing too many chances for Seattle.

But tensions would rise and cause several penalties, for both teams leaving the score tied 1-1 after the first period.

The Tips were on a power-play minutes into the Second period, Fonteyne was able to finish a deflection goal and take the lead for the first time tonight making it 2-1. While penalties kept adding up, so would the Tips shot on goal count, Silvertips are up on shots on goal in the Second going 14-7. The Tips held Seattle to zero shots on goal for over 9 minutes, in the beginning of the Second.

Opening the third period, Silvertips were up 2-1. While both teams were looking to capitalize on any chance they could, the Tips defense wasn’t what they started out like. This time they only allowed three shots on goal. With around one-minute remaining, Seattle pulled their goalie to get the 6th man ice advantage to try to tie the game up.

But the Silvertips had more fight than Seattle did even with their 6th man attacker. Connor Dewar, known as “The Pitbull” was able to get the puck loose towards center ice, where Matt Fonteyne swept up the puck and skated towards an empty net. with 30.8 seconds left Fonteyne’s second goal of the night would seal the game winner as the insurance goal and leave the game at 3-1, Silvertips.
