The Everett Silvertips came out with one objective, and that was to beat their U.S. division rivals and close out round 1 of the series. Well, they completed that objective tonight with a 4-0 win.
The first 5 minutes into the first period the puck was mainly in Seattle’s zone, and they weren’t the ones handling the puck either. At 5:46 in the first period, Sutter finished a rebounded puck from Dewar to open the first goal of the game. Tips would lead 1-0 at the end of the first. There were no penalties issued during the first period, but at the buzzer from the ending of first period. Sean Richards and Turner Ottenbreit would get into a little scrum, causing both to receive penalties opening the second period.
After 4-4 hockey was played, and teams were on full strength shots on goal would favor the Silvertips 17-14. But 2 of those 17 shots would be netted. Ondrej Vala snapped a shot from the blue line at 11:42 making it 2-0. Minutes later Matthew Wedman would punch Bajkov in the face, receiving a roughing penalty. Exactly 17 seconds later, Bajkov would make things bitter for Seattle burying a shot on Hughes. Tips would lead 3-0, Vala’s goal would be the insurance goal. Total shots on goal at the end of second period would be 31-25, still favoring the Tips.

Third period hockey between this rival is always very fast and physical, as some of us know. It was still that way tonight, Everett and Seattle came out this period fast and very aggressive. Lots of hard hits from both teams, Fasko-Rudas looked like he was taking lots of hits through the whole game. Everett would lead shots on goal by four during the third period. Whilst this period went from zone-zone territory, Seattle was able to keep the puck in Everett’s zone long enough to pull their goalie. Connor Dewar would be able to get the puck and score on an empty net with 2:31 left. That would be the final goal, giving the tips a shutout game ending it at 4-0
