Western Confrence Final Preview, Tri-City Americans VS Everett Silvertips

Stanwood, Wa– Starting with a 7:35 puck drop Friday night at the Angel of the Winds Arena, the Everett Silvertips take on the Tri-City Americans in the WHL Western Conference Finals. Everett has home ice advantage, getting the first two games at home. The Tips are 3-1 with home ice advantage against the Americans in the 17-18 regular season.

Everett is 5-2-1-0 against Tri-City in the regular season and will have to put up a tough fight to win this Conference Final. Two of Tri-City’s players are blowing crazy stats for the 17-18 WHL playoff series: Tri-City American Center Morgan Geekie has 15 goals, nine assists and 24 Points; Center Michael Rasmussen has 10 goals, 14 assists and 24 Points. Everett needs to shut these players down and not let their lines score.

Everett cannot rely only on their 7x Goaltender of the Week, Carter Hart. Although Hart has a 1.92 Goals Against Average and a .944 Save Percentage, Tri-City will be working to keep the puck in the offensive zone as much as possible, fire lots of shots at Hart and capitalize on all the commotion in front of him. Hart has made many saves and on occasion carried the team through a period or two of play, but the Tips’ offense needs to step up their game and keep the puck in their own offensive end. Everett Silvertips Right Winger Patrick Bajkov has seven goals, eight assists and 15 Points. Another player, Center Connor “The Pitbull” Dewar, has four goals, nine assists and 13 Points.

Everett will need to focus on, and reset after, each shift. As Left Winger Matt Fonteyne says, Whether you get scored on, or you score a goal. You just kinda have to hit the reset button and get ready for your next shift.” Everett will also need to play a very sturdy defense and crush Tri-City’s defense with their offense. Everett will have to take advantage of every shot and follow through with their own rebound shots.

Game 1; Puck drops at 7:35pm @ Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, Wa. Listen live on the Radio via KRKO 1380am or get your tickets and fill up the arena with fellow Tips’ fans.
