The Everett Silvertips could not capitalize on closing out the series tonight against the Tri-City Americans. The Silvertips lost 5-2 against the Americans.
Everett started out very strong, with Connor Dewar(7) opening the scoring drive at just 7 seconds after faceoff. Everett committed four penalties and successfully killed those four penalties. With Everett’s strong start, it looked as if they were going to run away with another win and close the series.
Opening the second period was Jusso Välimäki(3), who tied it up 1-1 at 2:29. Everett had two power play opportunities and was unsuccessful. 10:00 later, Nolan Yaremko(7) got it past Hart and made it 2-1 Tri-City. It remained scoreless the rest of the second, but not before four penalties were served, making it 4-on-4 hockey twice in the remainder of the second.
The first star of the game scored again at 5:23, giving Jusso Välimäki(4) his second goal of the game and putting Tri-City up 3-1. The Americans got a power play at 10:28 as Ondrej Vala headed to the box for 2:00. The Tips killed the penalty. Parker AuCoin(4) took the game to an extended lead at 15:57 and lead it 4-1. Everett pulled Hart at 16:34 and Connor Dewar(8) scored with the 6th man attacker on the ice, making it 4-2. Tri-City answered back exactly 1:00 minute later with Michael Rasmussen(5) getting in on the empty net.
Everett was not able to eliminate Tri-City tonight at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, WA. The Tips look to eliminate the Americans on Monday, April 30th at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.
